Today you will find groups of hearty souls celebrating art and wellness in the city. With activities connecting Doonites with each others we now have several groups that celebrate the colours of creativity in town. Read on to know about some of the endeavours that these people have made to make Doon a creative head that it is.
Been There Doon That
A Group of enthusiasts that will not only give you a detour of the entire town but also a ride to its spring time. Been There Doon That will awaken the history buff and the explorer inside your soul. They organise a number of heritage walks on the slopes of the Doon Valley, recalling the importance of Doon’s resources and the tales of glory in its starchitect (star and architect). You will find your itchy feet be at rest when you will walk around the streets of town searching for something you never knew could be of so much importance to the Doon Valley. Some of the walks that have been organised by Been There Doon That till now are Ruskin Bond Childhood Walk, Colonial & Afghan Links and The Kalsi Ancient Heritage walks.
Dehradun City and The Dehradun Project
An initiative by the UK07 Films is the Dehradun City and The Dehradun Project. Capturing every nook and corner of the town, this group of enthusiastic individuals have created Doon into a beautiful canvas of delightful colours through their films have been sharing the stories of the artists, shopkeepers and students of Dehradun to the general public in the town. They have been safeguarding the remains of the history of the town, preserving its heritage with their insightful films. They have covered a number of places through these videos some of these places are Dehradun Railway Station, Astley Hall, Rajpur Road and Ghanta Ghar.
Dehradun Graffiti
Introducing exquisite colours and quirky wall arts that will leave your soul lost in the world of doodling, is what Rachit Gaur, the man behind the colours of creativity in town, aims at. Dehradun Graffiti is a product of the unbounded imagination of an engineer, for whom the vicious cycle of 9 to 5 seemed absolutely monotonous. Customizing the penny plain and dull walls of the town and creating a supercalifragilisticexpealidocious (extraordinarily good) work on every wall that he touches.
There have been other Graffiti in Dehradun by groups like MAD and waste Warriors to create awareness amongst public regarding cleanliness in town.
Bands in Dehradun
Doon is getting quite melodious because of the melodies of the young and uniquely talented individuals who have put up a show of their tunes and have tuned in the entire city with their chords. Some of the most rocking bands in town have been Bhairavaas, Kartavya, Keechad and Swarrveda. The non-mentored and self- learnt individuals have brought a revolution of live performances and jam sessions in town. They have also opened the gates for many vocalists in Dehradun to have a platform to perform. A Facebook page called Dehradun Bands Association features a plethora of bands in the town. Places like 3 Pyramids, Orchards, The Great Indian Pub etc keep organising frequent shows to entertain their audience with good food and live melodies.
Dance Academies in Dehradun
Vibrations – Dance Academy, which is one amongst the well renowned and one of the best dance academy in town has helped many dancers to enhance their potential and bring out their talents on a bigger platform. Vibrations had also introduced the concept of Flash Mobs in town through which a huge number of dance lovers collaborated and performed together on the streets of Doon. The Naach Dance Academy is also one amongst the initiator of creating awareness about the society through the medium of dance.
Dehradun Drum Circle
Aiming at helping you to express yourself. Dehradun Drum Circle brings the community closer by connecting every person with each other. Encouraging people to bond with another through dancing, singing, listening and beating of drums to the heart’s content. Dehradun Drum Circle creates music from some really exquisite instruments like cans, lids, buckets etc and produce a very harmonious and exhilarating music, that will amp up the energy of your soul. Such kinds of gatherings are a lively event which has a contagious aura.
